Track & Field Host First Meet of the Season

The Milford Track and Field teams hosted Hollis-Brookline, Pelham, ConVal, and Wilton yesterday at the Stadium Field. The girls team won the meet and was led by Zoe Rick who won both the Shot Put and the Discus and Olivia Hyde who won both the Long Jump and Triple Jump. Also earning first place finishes were Trinity Millner in the Javelin, Jada Jones in the 100m, Rachel Sixon in the 1600m, Rylee Coates in the 200m, and the girls 4x100m relay team of Trinity Millner, Leila Lessage, Jada Jones and Olivia Hyde. In addition, Trinity Millner placed 2nd in the 100m Hurdles, Olivia Hyde finished 2nd in the 100m, Iris Lemaire was 2nd in the HJ, and the girls 4x400m relay team of Grace Mucheru, Rylee Coates, Eva Grochala, and Rachel Sixon also placed 2nd. Third place finishes included Peyten Tessier in the 100m, Eva Grochala in the 400m, Iris Lemaire in the LJ, Leila Giles in the Shot Put and Allison Cardin in the Discus.  The boys team placed 2nd overall at the meet. Milford never gave up and Josh Clark scored in the last 6 seconds of the game against a tough Coe Brown team in Boys Varsity Lacrosse as the Bears beat the Spartans.The JV boys lost 1-0 to the bears in a modified game and played well together. The Girls Varsity Lacrosse Team lost a hard fought 6-4 game vs Lebanon yesterday afternoon 6-4. Olivia Lochhead scored twice for Milford while Maggie Pelletier and MMaya Remella each scored once. Violet Renda had 11 saves in net for the Spartans. Milford Softball jumped out to an early 7-1 lead before Campbell came back to tie it at 7 and Milford then scored two more to win it 9-7. Mya Coombs and Teagan Goldstein went 2-4 at the plate while both also had two RBI's each. Arabelle Danforth, Livi Mazzeo and Mya each scored two times. Alivia went the distance on the mound giving up 4 hits and striking out 11.

The Milford Track and Field teams traveled to Souhegan on Saturday for the John Eastman Invitational. The girls team finished in 7th place out of 14 teams. Leading the Spartans was Senior Zoe Rick who won the Discus. Trinity Millner placed 5th in the Javelin, Rylee Coates placed 3rd in the 800m, Rachel Sixon placed 3rd in the 1600m and 6th in the 800m. The girls 4x400m relay team of Rylee Coates, Leila Lessage, Evangeline Grochala, and Rachel Sixon placed 5th. ON the boys side, the 4x100m relay team of Ethan Morin, Josh Pettingell, Matt Pettingell, and Ky-Mani Velez-Boggis led the way for the Spartans with a 2nd place finish. Senior Ethan Morin tied for 2nd in the High Jump and Josh Pettingell placed 3rd in the 100m. A shout out to Colin Kirby who broke 5 minutes in the mile for the first time ever! The Milford Track and Field teams traveled to Coe-Brown Thursday for their first meet. Both teams placed 3rd out of four teams. For the boys, Josh Pettingell won both the 100m and 200m, Chase Paiva, Colin Kirby and Josh Coates went 1-2-3 in the 800m, Ethan Morin placed 3rd in the Long Jump, Victor McEnnis placed 3rd in the Shot Put, the boys 4x100m relay team of Josh Pettingell, Matt Pettingell, Ethan Morin and Ky-Mani Velez-Boggis placed first. Maliki Blay was 2nd in the High Jump. For the girls team, Rylee Coates won the 400m and placed 2nd in the 200m. Senior Zoe Rick placed 2nd in the Discus and 3rd in the Shot Put, Trinity Millner placed 2nd in both the 100m Hurdles and Javelin and also was 3rd in the Long Jump. Boys Tennis Picks up First Win of the Season

The Boys Tennis Team had a strong showing against Alvirne on Wednesday resulting in their first win of the season.  Will Emerson defeated his opponent in a VERY close singles match, 8-6.  Ben Emerson notched in his first high school singles win, 8-1 followed by additional singles wins from Marcus Kern, Huseyin Alperen, and Dylan Barber. The  Emerson/Emerson  and the Kern/Alperen doubles teams brought in easy wins to close out the match and secure the win.  Spartans 7 Broncos 2.

Boys Tennis Plays Tough but Fall Short

The boys tennis team traveled to Merrimack on Monday.  The match was played in extremely windy and cold weather conditions.  Will Emerson easily defeated a strong Merrimack opponent at the #1 singles spot, winning 8-3.  Dylan Barber battled back from a 1-5 deficit to tie his singles match at the #6 spot.  He went on to win the match in a tiebreaker.  Will and Ben Emerson teamed up for doubles at the #1 spot and secured a third win for the Spartans, winning 8-3.  The remaining matches were close, but the Spartans came up short, losing the match 3-6.  Despite the loss, the spartans are prooving they are a much improved team and are sure to give DII opponents a challange all season long. They play at home on Wednesday against Alvirne at 4pm.

The Girls Team picked up the win over the Tomahawks 5-4 yesterday playing in unfavorable conditioned. However they persevered to get the first win of the season.Jordyn Shaw won at #2 singles 8-6Camy Sayward won at #3 singles 8-1Kinsley Matsis won in #4 singles 8-1Katelyn Dobson won in #6 singles 8-4Willa Audley and Cami Sayward won at #1 doubles 8-4.Jordyn, Camy and Katelyn are playing in their first season.Great Job girls.

13 Honored As Scholar Athletes

Today, 13 of our Spartans were awarded the title of Scholar Athlete by the NHADA and the NHIAA for their achievements in their sports and academics.  The ceremony was held at the Capital Center for the Arts in Concord.  The Milford School District is honored to have these 13 incredible individuals in our district.  Victor McEnnis, Gabe St. Onge, Grant Skorupan, Zoe Rick, Ethan Szopa, Camdyn Sayward, Jack Bastarache, Shea Hansen, Chris Bozza, Willa Audley and Colin Kirby.

Cheer Narrowly Misses Qualifying for Thursday's State Cheer Competion

The Winter Spirit Team put on a great showing at the DII State Competition on Sunday and just missed a top 5 spot to move on to compete against DI and DIII winners in the State Finals on Thursday. Their great performance earned them a 6th place finish. Congratulations to Senior Olivia Lochhead who finished out her career as the lone senior and to Agnes Adler who spent her year at Milford coming from Sweden to join the group.

Ice Hockey Finishes With Record Win Season

Congratulations to Seniors Chris Bozza, Landon Briand and Mason Tomkins on a great Hockey Season. The 3 Seniors led the team to the best season ever with a 14-4 record and the #1 seed heading into the play-offs, however Somersworth-CoeBrown played out of their minds and upset the Admirals on Saturday night 6-1.
