Scholar Athletes Honored by NHIAA

Congratulations to our 22 Student Athletes honored yesterday at the Concord Center for the Arts in Concord NH.Each Scholar Athlete must be a Senior, achieve a B+ or better GPA, Letter in two Varsity Sports and be a good citizen. Esports Finishes 6th at State Competition

The Milford Esports team brought the energy and teamwork to this year’s NHIAA Super Smash Brothers Championship, advancing all the way to the quarterfinals and finishing 6th overall, out of 13 Teams. Milford beat Timberlane and lost to Bedford in Pool Play to place 6th for Bracket Play. In Bracket Play, the Spartans took care of Goffstown in the prelims before losing to the 3rd seed Bow in the quarterfinalsEvery match showcased not just skill, but communication, support, and strategic play from the entire squad. Girls Basketball Pulls Off Win to Advance to the Finals

Congratulations to the Varsity Girls' Basketball Team on a 37-29 Semi Final win over the Cougars of Derryfield last evening at Pinkerton Academy. The Spartans led 12-9 after one quarter, 16-13 at the half and held a slim lead after 3, 26-25. In the 4th quarter, the Spartans shut down the Cougars 11-4 to move on against Oster River on Saturday at the UNH Gym at Noon.Claire Cote led the way for Milford with 11 points followed by Lexi Bausha with 8 and Avery Fuller and Ellianna Nassy with 7. Lexi Bausha hit a big 3 point shot in the 4th quarter providing the late game spark and Milford made 8 of 14 free throws in the final quarter to seal the win. Lulu Maguire provided some deflections on defense while Shea Hansen guided the offense.Hope to see the whole town of Milford in Durham on Saturday!!

Girls Basketball moves on to Semifinals

The Girls Varsity Basketball Team hosted the quarterfinal matchup against Coe Brown Northwood Academy on Saturday night to a packed gymnasium with standing room only. The Spartans started strong and finished strong to pick up the win 55-42. Shea Hansen led the way for Milford with 14 points, and 4- 3 point shots and Avery Fuller pitched in with 12. Claire Cote and LuLu Maguire were right behind with 9 points each. Ellianna Nassy and Lexi Bausha also played some great defense, while Ellie and Avery controlled the boards. The team will travel to Pinkerton Academy on Wednesday, March 12th to play 3rd seeded Derryfield in one semi final for the right to play at UNH for the Championship on Saturday. Laconia and Oyster River will play the other Semifinal Game. Tickets for the Semi Finals are $7 for Adults and $5 for Students. Hope to see you all there on Wednesday at 5 pm. Go Spartans.

We had a busy week of programs over Break. On Friday the Milford Varsity Basketball Team travelled to Hanover to play the Bears. It was a slow start, but Milford took control in the 3rd quarter and went on to a 59-28 win. Lexi Bausha led Milford with 14 points followed by Claire Cote with 13 and Shea Hansen with 10. The teams outscored Hanover 21-1 in the 3rd quarter. Wrestling - The Wrestling Team participated in the NH D2 States on Saturday and placed 5th overall. Girls Basketball Clinches Playoff Spot

 The girls basketball team held off Pembroke academy Friday night to clinch the second seed heading into the DII tournament with a 14-3 record.  Another great team effort that will be hard to beat in the playoffs. They head into Saturday's quarterfinals with a 6 game winning streak including big wins against top seated teams Derryfield and Pembroke. Game is slated for 7pm.

The Boys Basketball Teams travelled to Manchester West and the JV team got things started with a 46-38 win. Malakai Blay scored 18 points for Milford and Kris Carr chipped in with 9 to lead the Spartans. The Varsity Boys played top 4 Manchester West tough, but could not overcome the Blue Knights in a 54-42 loss. After the first quarter Milford held West to only 32 points for the last 3 quarters. In Milford the Girls teams hosted Derryfield. The JV team played tough but lost 28-23. The Varsity Girls had a tough match up with the number 1 seeded Cougars and came back in the 4th quarter to beat Derryfield 37-35. Avery Fuller led the way with 9 points and made 3 of 4 from the line in the 4th quarter to hold off Derryfield. Ellianna Nassy scored 6 and none bigger than the go ahead bucket, a baby hook with under 30 seconds to go. The boys Basketball Teams travelled to ConVal on Friday afternoon.The JV Team won 50-36. Jacob Hager led the way with 15 points and Jack Bonafilia chipped in with 11. The Varsity Boys struggled to put the ball in the basket with a 56-25 loss to the Cougars The Varsity Girls hosted the Cougars and won 56-17. It was a team win from start to finish. The Swimming Teams travelled to UNH to participate in the D2 State Finals The Boys placed 8th of the 20 teamsJack Bastarache placed 6th in 50 and 500 Freestyle races.The Boys 4 x 400 Relay placed 5th - Jack Bastarache, Grant Skorupan, Rocco Bartling, and Liam Cardin competed for Milford The Girls Team placed 9th of the 20 teamsWilla Audley placed 2nd in the 100 Freestyle and 3rd in the 200 Freestyle with a personal best in each race.Jasmine Blay finished 12th in the 100 Breaststroke and 12th in 100 Freestyle to finish her Senior Season.Girls  4 x400 Freestyle also finished in 6th place - Iris Lemaire, Danika Works

In Basketball action last night, the boys traveled to Northwood to take on Coe Brown. The JV team battled tough and were down 2 late in the 3rd quarter but could not take down the Bears in a 45-31 loss. Jack Bonafilia led the way for Milford with 16 points. In the Varsity Game, the Spartans had a tough time generating offense, but played well defensively to make it competitive but lost to the Bears 43-29. Matt Gaumont led the way with 8 points and Brady O'Connor played well defensively. The JV Girls were up most of the way against Coe Brown but the Bears battled back to take the lead before Milford tied it up to send it into overtime. Coe Brown jumped out early and had chances to tie it up, but could not put it in the bucket in a 44-41 loss. Maialen Garay led the team with 10 points followed by Nadia Tlapa with 9, Bella Ross with 8 and some tough rebounds. Marc and Rollie honored for their service to Milford Athletics

On Friday, Milford High School hosted AD Night to honor past athletic directors for their long time commitment to the athletic department.  Rollie Hardwick became what was then Milford Area Senior High (MASH) first athletic director in 1970.  He served that role for the next 20 years.  Marc Maurais took over the role in 1992 when MASH split with the opening of Souhegan High.  He served as Milford High School athletic director until he retired in 2022. Rollie and Marc were inducted into the NHIAA Hall of Fame.  Thank you both for your commitment to the students and the community of Milford.
