Busy Weekend for the Sartans

The Girls JV Basketball Team dug themselves a 12-0 deficit after one quarter of play, however battled to a 10-9 game after that with some great defense, however lost the game 22-9. Haley Harrington led the team in rebounding, while Emma Freeman had some important steals and Lily Lorette helped stabilize the offense.
The Varsity Girls jumped out early on the Bobcats 13-4 with some key hoops from Ellianna Nassy and Shea Hansen. Avery Fuller battled well on the boards and Shea and LuLu Maguire his some key hoops down the stretch to keep Milford within reach each time the team got behind, however it was not enough as Oyster River beat the Spartans 63-58. LuLu played in her first game back in over a year from her knee injury and she hit 3 key 3's in her return.
The JV Boys team battled the Bobcats all night long but fell in a close game in the last minute 47-41.
On Saturday, the Boys Ice Hockey Team got down 1-0 after the first period of play but game out hot in the 2nd quarter to score 5 goals and beat the Nashua North/Souhegan team 5-2.
Dylan MacLeod and Chris Bozza each scored a goal while Bryce Larco finished with 3 assists, while Braydon Atwood and Landon Briand each finished with one.
The bowling team traveled to Raymond yesterday for a match with Bishop Guertin, Hollis Brookline and Raymond, but were unable to pick up a Bakers win. Leila Whitley did get back into three figures with a 113, Malakai Ramirez had a 137, and Tristan Xavapy hit over 100 in both games with a 107 and 102.
The Wrestling Team hosted Exeter and ConVal High School on Saturday Morning.
The team first matched up with ConVal and won 73-6. Milford won all but one match.
The team then faced a strong D1 Exeter team which they had previously faced twice already earning a split in those two matches. However Exeter proved to be the better team on Saturday with a 53-22 win over the Spartans.
Every Milford Varsity Wrestler won at least one meet on the day with Cam Stickney, Phillip Wright and Jace Whilhelmi winning both of their matches.
Here are the results of the Indoor Track meet at UNH yesterday morning.
For the Boys:
Avery Wilson won the 55m dash and Josh Pettingell got 6th place.
Will Whitley placed 5th in the 600m.
Logan Korthals won the 1500m and Grant Skorupan placed 4th.
Logan, Grant, Will, and Avery all ran on the winning 4x400m relay team.
For the Girls:
Rylee Coates placed 5th in the 600m.
The girls 4x400m of Rylee, Grace Mucheru, Catriona Carter, and Isabella Cornaro placed 4th.
The swim team was also in Durham yesterday at UNH. The Boys finished 13th out of 20 schools in NewHampshire and the girls scored an amazing 4th place finish, 2nd only to Souhegan in Division 2. Jasmine Blay scored 48 points for 20th place out of 146 swimmers, while Willa Audley scored 80.7 points in 5th place. On the Boys side Jack Bastarache scored 24.5 points for 27th place out of 84 swimmers. Willa won the 200 M and 500 M Freestyle events and was 5th in the 50 M Free.
Jasmine Blay finished 5th in the 100 M Free and Jack was 3rd in the 500 M Freestyle.
Shilo Chappell also finished well for Milford.
The Milford Girls earned a spot for the team of the week as did the Spartans Varsity Boys Basketball Team with their win over Oyster River on Friday night, 57-26. Milford shut out the Bobcats in the first quarter and led 20-5 at the half with some incredible defense against a top tier team. Milford ranks number 2 in team defense for all of D2 at 40 points per game, which will go down after this latest game. Great job Spartans
