There were many games with play-implications played on Friday.
The Girls Soccer team tied Lebanon 1-1 to put them in a 3 way tie for 10th place with Keene and Souhegan. As best I can figure, Milford will travel to Kingswood on Tuesday for a 3 pm start.
The Boys Varsity Soccer team playing shorthanded, solidified its #3 seed with a 2-1 win over Lebanon and will have a bye in the First Round and will likely play the winner of Coe Brown and Souhegan on Saturday at 3 or 6 pm.
The Girls volleyball team locked in their 3rd place finish in the regular season with a 3-0 win over Manchester West on Friday. The volleyball team will host St. Thomas on Wednesday at 6 pm in Preliminary Round action. With a win on Wednesday, Milford would host a quarterfinal game again on Friday.
The Boys JV Soccer team had a tough time with Lebanon but never gave in, in a loss to the Raiders.
The JV Girls Volleyball Team finished the regular season undefeated with their 3-0 win over Manchester West to end the Regular Season undefeated at 16-0. They are this week's team of the week for that amazing feat. They took that record into the JV tournament on Sunday against some of the best teams in the state. They won their pool and had a bye in bracket play before beating ConVal in the quarterfinals. The team then took on Coe Brown in the Semi Finals, a team they had not played during the regular season, but the Bears beat them in the 1 set match to send Milford into the consolation game against Gilford, who the had beaten in pool play, but were unable to get their number in the 3rd place game. The team did extremely well to finish 4th in a tournament with 12 of the best teams in the state and is this week's team of the week. Great Job Spartans.
Friday night the Spartan Varsity Football team started fast to score the first touchdown of the game and were up at halftime, but ConVal came back in the second half to beat Milford 27-20. Milford had a few chances in the 4th quarter to tie things up or take the lead, but could not get the ball into the Endzone. Liam Zahn, Caydan Tessier and Logan Chamberlin all played well in their last game as a Spartan.
On Saturday, Jaylin Paul finished 13th in the Division two State Meet at Derryfield Park. She placed second among all freshmen in the race. Bella Cornaro and Cat Carter also both set a personal best on the course.
On the Boys Side, Logan Korthals was at the front of the pack before stepping on a loose rock at about the one mile mark and fell into a bunch of pricker bushes, before regaining his composure and getting back on his feet back to finish 8th in the state. Will Whitley also finished 17th and the state to take home a medal. As a team, Milford finished 5th behind Hanover, Coe Brown, Oyster River, and Souhegan, but earned a spot at the Meet of Champions next week at Alvirne at 2:30 pm.
