On Friday afternoon, the Girls Soccer Team traveled to ConVal and earned a tie with the Cougars 1-1. The team, a bit short handed due to a wedding, battled tough all game with the next player up mentality. Camy Sayward did a great job taking over in goal and Kingsley Matsis scored for Milford, while Haleigh Lloyd got the assist.
The Milford Field Hockey Teams took on Derryfield, a team with strong field hockey tradition and played them scoreless through 3 quarters until Derryfield was finally able to score the game winner in the 4th quarter to win 1-0. The Jv team also lost by the same score.
The Football team played Souhegan close to start the game scoring on a 10 yard strike from Quarterback Brady O'Connor to Gavyn Tessier to make the score 14-6, but some big plays by Souhegan gave the Sabers a 43-6 win. Defensively the Spartans played well in the second half shutting out the Sabers. Thank you to those that brought in items for the NH Tackles Hunger Program supported by WMUR.
On Saturday, the Spartan runners finally got some publicity for being one of the premier programs in the State with a 3rd place finish at the Pelham Invitational, losing only to perennial power Coe Brown and a top D1 team, Bishop Guertin, but knocked off 14 other teams. On the boys side, Logan Korthals won the race in 15:45. Grant Skorupan, Will Whitley, and Chase Paiva all finished in the top 18 and Josh Coates rounded out the scoring to help Milford secure 3rd place out of 17 teams. Landon Jacquet was the top JV finisher, placing 16th. Jaylyn Paul led the girls team with a 15th place finish overall. Great job, Spartans!
Last night the Spartan JV Football team traveled to Souhegan to match up against the Sabers. The team played tough but lost to the cross town rival 21-14.
The team of the week this week goes to the Milford Girls Cross Country Team as it was the first time in three years that the team finished with a team score. Jaylyn Paul led the way with a 15th place finish. Other scorers for Milford were Isabella Cornaro, Kat Demmons, Cat Carter and Gretta Rowe.
