Despite a tough loss, the field hockey team showed grit, determination, and real improvement in their first game of the season on turf vs the undefeated Oyster River Bobcats. Playing with only two subs, the team battled hard from start to finish, proving they are ready to build and grow together.
Freshman Norah Cardin was a standout in the cage, playing the full game and making an incredible 32 saves. Senior Violet Renda stepped far outside her comfort zone, leaving her usual spot in goal to play defense and delivered numerous key stops.
In the midfield, both Lily Webster and Paige Bernier stepped up in big ways. Lily showcased sharp stick skills and smart ball movement, while Paige played with intensity and control, making several key plays on both ends of the field to support both the defense and the attack.
Forwards Willa Audley and Charlotte Dutton made strong drives toward the net, keeping pressure on the opposing defense. Freshman Willow Owens brought unmatched heart and hustle up front, constantly pushing herself and supporting her teammates with determination.
This game may not have ended in a win, but the team's effort, adaptability, and passion proves they may be a small team, but they’re ready to push on and step up to any challenge.
