It was a rough day for Milford Athletics on Friday Night, April 25th.
The softball team lost to Souhegan 12 Milford 7
Milford was only able to generate 4 hits. Arabelle Danforth had 2, Molly Miles had a solo homerun and Mya Coombs had a double that also scored a run.
The Baseball Team lost to the Sabers 7-2. Jacob Hill had some good time on the mound followed by some good innings by Gabe St. Onge. Gabe, Ethan Szopa, Logan Howard and Will O'Connell each had a hit for Milford.
The JV Baseball Team lost to Souhegan 13-3. Connor Mills, Jack Bonafilia and Aiden Zahn each had a solid inning on the mound. Body Belanger and Ben Richardson were the only two to get a hit and Brody did a nice job behind the plate.
The Girls Lacrosse Team lost to Lacrosse power Hopkinton 16-1. Violet Renda had 13 saves and Nadia Tlapa scored for the Spartans. The defense only allowed 2 goals in the 2nd half.
The JV team lost their game playing against mostly Varsity players.
On Saturday, the Milford track and field teams braved the rainy and cold conditions at the highly competitive Black Bear Invitational and produced some great performances. For the boys team, Avery Wilson won the 200m dash, breaking his own school record again! The boys 4x100m relay team of Avery Wilson, Josh Pettingell, Gavyn Tessier and Kenyon Sora placed second. Logan Korthals placed 3rd in the 800m, Josh Pettingell placed 6th in the 100m, Chase Paiva won the unseeded 1600m, and the boys 4x800 team of Josh Coates, Logan Korthals, Chase Paiva, and Will Whitley won their race to the end the rain soaked day.
For the girls team, Rylee Coates and Bella Cornaro both ran personal records in the 400m with Rylee placing 3rd in the event. Catriona Carter also set a personal record in the 800m and Jaylyn Paul ran her best time of the season in the 3200m.
Special shout outs to Cameron Lewicki, Chase Paiva and Danika Works for representing the throwers at this very competitive (and wet) invitational!
